This is a photo of me at the end of my first 10km run last year-‘Beat the Tide’ And I only just beat it!
I took up running about a year ago so am very new to this malarky but have run 3, 10km events and a cross country run called the Brutal 10 so far! One of which was the Chestnut Tree House 10km where I managed to raise £400 for the charity with the support and generosity of my friends and family!
It had been my goal this year to better the times I achieved last year, hopefully with my first ever half marathon in October!

When I heard the news from Georgina of Micheles’ most recent diagnosis and knowing how bravely the family have endured this past year, I really felt I wanted to do something to help raise the funds needed for the vital treatment Michele needs.

So why not run for a reason! I know the bravery and humility of the Ammolla family will be what drags me out of bed at 5am on cold, wet mornings to train! The funds I hope to raise for this wonderful cause will be the inspiration to push through! What’s a few blisters in comparison to making this wonderful family’s lives just a little bit brighter?

My first run is The Bluebell 10km on the 23rd April. Then Beat the Tide 10km in July, followed by The Chestnut Tree 10km and the Arundel 10km in August and September. Finishing with the Chichester Half Marathon on 8th of October!
Please help and give what you can for this beautiful family

Meds4Miggy – My First 10K!

The streets of Worthing are going to be getting a good pounding from the Foxy Ladies Running Club on June 4th, from what we hear!
And Bridget Brown, is another member of this awesome club who is taking part, by running her first 10k in aid of Meds4Miggy…!
Here’s her message…
“On the 4th June, I’ll be attempting my first 10km run! While I like to think I’m up to it, my training regime would tell me otherwise!
“My motivation to get through the distance is to contribute as much money as possible for Michele’s treatment for Stage 3 cancer. His story, from diagnosis to the start of treatment, how he has dealt with it, how his family and young lads (fellow Vale children) have dealt with it and how together they are facing the uncertain future is inspiring – and yet devastating – at the same time.
So, if you’re around Worthing seafront on Sunday 4th June, come and give me a cheer, but more than anything, if you can, please donate to Michele’s Just Giving page. Thank you x

What a ‘Worthy’ way to tackle 10K!

Summer’s definitely around the corner and it’s that time of year again for the Worthing 10k!

When the event kicks off on June 4, the lovely Emma Hennings will be taking on the super running challenge as a fully fledged member of Miggs Army!

She said: “This year I’m getting hot and sweaty for a great cause that’s much closer to home – Meds4Miggy.

“Miggy is a lovely young dad from my kids’ school who needs to raise £200,000 for a cancer drug to prolong his life. Please, please read and follow his story and donate whatever you can, any amount, big or small to help him on this journey”.

If you would like to sponsor Emma, please make a donation via the Just Giving Page and remember to include your message of support!

South Downs Marathon

South Downs Marathon!

We have another runner, Helen Almond who has kindly offered to run for Miggy! Helen will be taking part in the South Downs Trail Marathon on the 17th June and this is her story….

Recently I couldn’t help but notice the amazing growing community and energy on Facebook surrounding Meds4Miggy, so I couldn’t think of anything better than to do something to help spread the word and raise money.
So, if you see me on my long training runs around Worthing, dragging my feet, only 1 mile in with a face like a plump tomato, you may point and laugh, but only if you donate with the other hand!
Please visit their JustGiving page. Thanks you!

Mary’s Marathon for Miggy!

If you were wondering about some of the great ways in which you can help raise funds for Meds4Miggy, then check this out for inspiration…

Super fit Mary Greening has decided to dedicate her London Marathon run on April 23 to matters close to home…  All 26+ miles of it!

She said: “Friends and people’s lives are important to me. The Ammolla family got told that there is an exciting new drug that is working miracles on cancer and could prolong the father’s (Migs) life long enough to watch his sons, (aged 10 and 6) grow up.

Unfortunately it is not available on the NHS and the family need to raise the funds themselves at a huge cost.  Migs needs to start this treatment urgently and I hope we can help support this cause”.

If you would like to help by sponsoring Mary then please donate to the Just Giving page and put a comment of support for Mary in when you do.

She added:  “I will not be offended or cross the road when I see you if you don’t want to help, but just so you know 26.2 miles is a chuffin long way!!!”??

All the very best of luck Mary – lets give her all the support we can. And the beers are on us at the finish line! xx
